"Broken Ankles" is an song by Mike Perfetti that his band Sunder performed early on, but it didn't see a release until Gun Street Ghost's self-titled record last year. I made the first version of this cover for Mike's birthday a few years ago, working off a video of a Sunder performance at the Larimer Lounge [linked below]. Bryon Parker played a pretty cool drum part that I kept even after revising the tune to be more like the album version of the song. It was a challenge to adapt a song where the melody is the same throughout, where the vocal and lyrics are what carry the song, but I've always loved the feel of the track. It's a little bit like a lullaby, and made me think of the House By The Bay in Link's Awakening.
