07. "FACE (SECRET LEVEL)"
I had wanted to cover a Hindershot song for a long while because all their songs have a lot of energy and already sound a little bit like Mega Man. It wasn't until they announced their final show that I got to work on one, though. I initially went with "Face" because I had already learned it for an ensemble show that our bands played together earlier in the year, but as I worked on it and picked apart all the elements of it, I realized how terrific a song it is. Ten days before the band's final show, Lucas Johannes sent me a new recording of the song to work off of. Once I got started, the whole thing came together effortlessly, and it turned out to be probably my favorite track on my album. That octave jump during the second verse into the halftime measure into that quick fill into the chorus... really from the second verse on out, it's just one rad part after another. Those guys wrote a killer song.

I posted my track a day before the band's last show, and they released their final album on burned cds at the show. It's up on bandcamp now, and i highly recommend it, along with their other releases: hindershot.bandcamp.com
