about

Summer, 2010

When I decided I wanted to make another 8-bit song, I knew that I wanted it to be an Accordion Crimes song. They were, and still are, one of my favorite Denver bands, and their EP, "A Higher Quality Version of This", (their only release, at the time) had a lot of really cool melodies. I remember initially wanting to do "Planes Over Milwaukee" but deciding just before I got started that "Potshots" was actually perfect for this. The cool drum beat and that soaring lead melody just couldn't be better. I think this is one of the best songs on my album.

A Higher Quality Version of This is no longer available, but check out the rest of their stuff on bandcamp. It's all really good.

The track art for this song is an alteration of a photograph by flickr user "Reintji". He's got lots of cool x-rays of old electronics and gaming stuff here: www.flickr.com/photos/ravanderende/albums/72157594368940565
